Software Engineer

Type: Full-Time (W2) On-Site/ Hybrid, Arlington, VA

We are seeking a full-time Software Engineer who will participate in the development, test, deployment and planning for several core software products at DeepSig. These may span both our commercial and federal offerings for RF sensing, PHY development, ML training and development infrastructure, including software optimization on GPUs, FPGAs, SIMD architectures and a range of other algorithm, test, validation, and product development areas. We seek candidates who have strong software experience with C/C++, Python, Linux, Git, and additional skills around high performance computing, signal processing, product development, and modern software engineering practices.

What You’ll be Doing:

  • Software development, architecture, design, mentoring, and implementation in C/C++, Python, Torch, React/JS, CUDA, MKL, Verilog, Linux and Embedded Edge Platforms.
  • Working with product leads, R&D team, customers and on the full spectrum of feature and prototype development for the production ML/DSP/Configuration software.
  • Working with a wide range of 5G & Open RAN radios and RAN hardware and software systems, as well as software defined radio systems in both enterprise level HPC systems and smaller embedded systems to interface, implement and test wireless signal processing software.
  • Working on rapid productization, test, and deployment of applied research software in a fast moving & small environment where you will touch systems end-to-end.

What we need to see:

  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States by US Person status to meet certain information processing and contract requirements.
  • BS or M.S. in Computer Science or Electrical/Computer Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of software product experience using C++11 or higher.
  • A strong knowledge of SDLC and software engineering practices.
  • Strong experience with C/C++, Python, and Linux Development Environments.
  • Experience working with libraries such as CUDA, MKL, Boost, PyTorch is a plus.
  • Strong communication and teaming skills to work collaboratively and productively in a small company environment where we often wear multiple hats.

Technical Director-5G

Type: Full-Time (W2) On-Site/ Hybrid, Arlington, VA

DeepSig Inc. is a venture-backed technology company pioneering the use of AI in 5G and other wireless systems by replacing traditional signal processing with machine learning.  DeepSig software products achieve significant performance increases while reducing power consumption to bring value to our customers.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Director to oversee a multidisciplinary team of engineers in the development of ML-enhanced 5G transceivers. The successful candidate will be responsible for translating high-level product goals into technical tasks, guiding the team through development processes, and ensuring the successful integration of our software within a variety of RAN platforms. This role involves direct supervision of a diverse team, collaboration with upper management, and contributing to the strategic direction of our ML-enhanced technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a diverse team of ML, Electrical, and Software Engineers
  • Assist in guiding the roadmap of future development by identifying key areas where non-linear, ML-enhanced solutions will have the most impact
  • Stay up-to-date with current and future 3GPP specifications, study items, and work items
  • Assist DeepSig’s 3GPP Specifications Team in the identification of proposal items for 6G
  • Oversee and aid the team in the design and implementation of reference receivers, reference signals, simulated  transmitters, channel conditions, and combined scenarios to improve the training and validation of our 5G capabilities.
  • Supervise the software product package development and integration efforts with a variety of potential hardware and vRAN platforms.
  • Provide regular updates to upper management, including the CEO, CTO, and 5G Program Manager.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years experience in LTE/NR baseband transmitter and receiver design, implementation, and testing
  • Ability and desire to work in a flexible, fast-paced, and dynamic startup environment
  • Proven leadership experience, capable of managing a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to guide the team through technical challenges.
  • Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with team members, partners, and customers

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with O-RAN compliant base stations and vRAN platforms.
  • Understanding of telecom industry standards and the ability to contribute to 3GPP Working Groups.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of mentoring junior and mid-level engineers, and effectively communicating with executive leadership.

Linux System Administrator

We are seeking a full-time, Linux System Administrator to join our team in Arlington, Virginia focusing on helping build out our hardware and software infrastructure for software development and build/test, machine learning training/test, and supporting the secure and efficient scaling of our data center and network infrastructure to support growing computing and machine learning needs. We’re seeking someone experienced in working with modern Linux server environments, network management, good security, compliance, version control and automation practices, and an interest in helping grow and lead our machine learning operations as we grow.

Some of What You’ll be Doing:

  • Lead Linux system administration for a range of Linux systems across our labs, on-premises, and data center GPU servers.
  • Helping us continue to build out, secure and optimize our data center and computing network across a unique and growing set of requirements involving software radio systems, 5G cellular lab networks, and state of the art high performance computing and GPU servers running machine learning workloads.
  • Making sure our networks and computing infrastructure are working well, securely, and meeting compliance requirements.

 What we need to see:

  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States by US citizenship to meet certain information processing and contract requirements
  • A strong knowledge and hands-on experience with modern Ubuntu/Debian Linux, version control systems, firewall management, containerization services, virtualization technologies, backup solutions, automation and scripting languages and tools.
  • A demonstrated ability in provisioning hardware and information systems and helping do system engineering to help define new hardware and computing system requirements.
  • Experience (at least 3 years) running Linux systems in commercial or government environments, working with modern version control (git), containerization, scripting, and automation tools.
  • Experience in networking and dealing with firewall, VLAN and network configuration tools.

FPGA Engineer

Type: Full-Time (W2), Arlington, VA (Remote option available for the right candidate)

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Collaborate with the R&D team and customers on prototype development of FPGA-based AI capabilities, incorporating elements of ML and DSP.
  • Engage in a rapid prototype development environment, including testing and deployment of applied research firmware and software in a dynamic, small-scale setting, interacting with systems end-to-end.

What We Need to See:

  • Strong knowledge of FPGA design and experience with Xilinx FPGA devices
  • Proficiency with the Xilinx Vivado suite of design/automation tools
  • Experience with VHDL and/or Verilog
  • Knowledge of software development and engineering practices
  • Interest in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and leveraging AI for RF applications
  • Proficiency in C++, Python, CMake, Git, Linux, and Docker
  • 5+ years of professional experience with FPGAs, particularly in modem design using Software Defined Radio and/or Machine Learning

  • Experience developing front-end controllers for software-defined radios (Epiq, Ettus, etc.)
  • Experience with real-time processing of IQ sample streams from the SDR front end using optimized CPU (SIMD) and/or GPU (CUDA) kernels
  • Experience in end-to-end, bidirectional modem development
  • Comfort with developing and optimizing high-performance DSP routines (FIR/IIR filters, resamplers, detection algorithms, modulators/demodulators)
  • Proven experience in SIMD instruction set-based, FPGA-based, or DSP-processor-based fixed-point design and implementation for wireless communication systems

We Would Like to See:

  • Experience with an FPGA-based ML framework (e.g., Vitis AI, FINN, AI Engine)
  • Familiarity with libraries such as CUDA, Boost, PyTorch

Principal Machine Learning Engineer

Type: Full-Time (W2) On-Site/ Hybrid, Arlington, VA

We are seeking a visionary and technically proficient Principal Machine Learning Engineer to lead our advanced research and development initiatives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in one or more of the following areas: Deep Learning, RF Sensing, Statistical Signal Processing, Wireless Systems (particularly 5G), and Time/Frequency Analysis of Signals. In this role, you will drive the creation and implementation of innovative machine learning models and solutions that advance our capabilities in these cutting-edge domains.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire a team of machine learning engineers. Develop and execute the strategic vision for integrating machine learning into RF sensing, signal processing, and wireless communication systems.
  • Spearhead the design and development of advanced machine learning models for wireless communication applications like RF spectrum sensing, channel equalization and estimation, channel modeling. Innovate and push the boundaries of what’s possible in these fields.
  • Provide deep technical expertise in wireless systems, particularly 5G technologies, to inform the development of algorithms and models that enhance system performance maintaining latency and compute budget.
  • Identify and tackle complex challenges in the areas of signal processing and wireless systems using advanced machine learning techniques. Lead initiatives to explore and implement novel solutions.
  • Oversee multiple concurrent projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within scope. Allocate resources effectively and manage project risks to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence. Stay up to date with the latest advancements in machine learning and related fields to guide the team effectively.

Qualifications:

  • PhD. or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with a focus on machine learning, signal processing, or wireless systems.
  • A minimum of 7+ years of experience in the related field
  • Proficiency in machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and programming languages (e.g., Python, C++).
  • Strong background in one or more of the following: wireless communications, signal processing, machine learning, deep learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team of engineers and scientists, with a track record of successful project delivery.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Deep understanding of current trends and advancements in machine learning, RF sensing, statistical signal processing, and wireless systems, particularly 5G.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in managing entire Machine Learning engineering lifecycle – from system design to model development to model training to system testing and optimization.
  • Experience with real-time signal processing, DSP platforms, or embedded systems.
  • Experience with building Machine Learning applications for edge deployment.
  • Ability to write and / or review production level code (Python, C++) is strongly preferred.

ML - Machine Learning Intern (Summer 2025)

Director of Product Management-5G

Wireless Software Engineer - SIMD Design Specialist

We are seeking a full-time Senior Software Engineer who will be an integral part of our growing team – contributing expertise in Signal Processing, Software Radio, Machine Learning, and 3GPP wireless systems to design, develop, and integrate groundbreaking 5G/6G capabilities for a variety of customer hardware platforms. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in a flexible and dynamic environment while leveraging our ML team to integrate intelligence and adaptability into our 5G offerings. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working with Intel or ARM-based SIMD instruction sets, FPGA-based Digital Signal Processing (DSP) design and implementation, and/or significant experience designing and implementing DSP-processor accelerated solutions.

Some of What You’ll be Doing:

  • Design, develop, and optimize software-based SIMD-focused solutions for 5G wireless communications systems.
  • Work with and integrate our software within vRAN physical layers such as FlexRAN, OAI, or Aerial SDK.
  • Work with the rest of the 5G team to propose conventional DSP solutions to augment and improve our existing capabilities.
  • Collaborate with the ML design team to ensure solutions can be effectively and efficiently implemented within the GPP instruction set and compute constraints.

What We Need to See:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of professional experience with Digital Signal Processing, particularly as it relates to Software Defined Radio and/or Machine Learning

3GPP Wireless Communications Engineer

Type: Full-Time (W2) On-Site, Arlington, VA (Remote Possible)

DeepSig Inc. is a venture-backed technology company pioneering the use of AI in 5G and other wireless systems by replacing traditional signal processing with machine learning.  DeepSig software products achieve significant performance increases while reducing power consumption to bring value to our customers.

We are seeking a full-time Wireless Communications Engineer who will be an integral part of our growing team – contributing expertise in Signal Processing, Software Radio, and in particular, 3GPP wireless systems to design, develop, and integrate groundbreaking 5G/6G capabilities for a variety of customer hardware platforms. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in a flexible and dynamic environment while leveraging our ML team to integrate intelligence and adaptability into our 5G offerings. The ideal candidate will have considerable expertise with the technical aspects of the 3GPP specifications, including the implementation and design of mathematically optimal receivers, as well as a strong knowledge of the current state of the art of existing and near-future RAN implementations.

Some of What You’ll be Doing:

  • Help optimize machine-learning enhanced 5G receiver technology by identifying novel ways to prepare objective functions based on non-linear implementations for massive MIMO systems
  • Stay updated with current and future 3GPP specifications, study items, and work items.
  • Drive the roadmap of future development by identifying key areas where non-linear, ML-enhanced solutions will have the most impact.
  • Design and implement reference receivers, reference signals, simulated transmitters, channel conditions, and combined scenarios to improve the training and validation of our 5G capabilities.
  • Collaborate with the ML design team to ensure solutions are efficiently implemented and scalable

What We Need to See:

  • Master’s Degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in 3GPP transmitter and receiver design and implementation
  • Strong proficiency in MATLAB with a focus on signal processing, communication, and 5G toolboxes
  • Familiarity with Python, and experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch preferred.
  • Deep understanding of 3GPP specifications covering LTE through 5G, with awareness of Rel 18 and 19 activities and 6G developments
  • Proficiency in using simulation tools to model and analyze the performance of wireless communications systems, including link-level and system-level simulations.
  • Ability and desire to work in a flexible, fast-paced, and dynamic startup environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with team members, partners, and customers.
