Arlington, VA, July 24, 2025DeepSig, a pioneer in AI-native wireless communications, has been named a finalist in Light Reading’s Leading Lights Award 2025 in the category of “Most Innovative Radio Access Network (RAN) Product or Solution.” The nomination recognizes DeepSig’s collaboration with Viettel High Technology Industries Corporation (VHT) on OmniPHY-5G: Carrier-grade Open Distributed Unit (O-DU) with AI-improved Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH). The Leading Lights Awards are among the most prestigious honors in the global telecommunications industry, spotlighting companies, technologies and teams that drive innovation in next-generation communications.

“Being named a finalist for this award is an honor and a strong validation of our AI-native approach to wireless networks,” says DeepSig CEO Jim Shea. “This recognition reflects the industry’s growing momentum toward AI-Native RAN. We believe that AI can fundamentally reshape how networks perform, scale and respond to real-world demands. We’re proud to be recognized alongside other leading innovations and remain focused on advancing the future of RAN.”

DeepSig and VHT achieved a significant milestone by completing the world’s first live deployment of an AI/ML-based neural receiver in a commercial 5G Open virtualized RAN (vRAN). Running on Viettel’s live network in Hanoi, DeepSig’s OmniPHY-5G software uses AI/ML algorithms for advanced physical layer signal processing, including channel estimation and equalization. This deployment improved the uplink Signal-to-Interference-and-Noise Ratio by two to three times, significantly increasing network capacity without any additional hardware.

By integrating directly into VHT’s Open Distributed Units (O-DUs), DeepSig’s AI-native software enables large-scale, multi-cell operations with improved performance under real-world traffic conditions. The collaboration demonstrates how AI-powered signal processing can deliver measurable performance gains in Open RAN environments today. This is a key step in maturing and hardening key AI-Native air interface technology and software, which will be at the heart of the 6G networks, delivering improved capacity and efficiency by leveraging network data.

Winners of the Leading Lights Awards will be announced on September 10, 2025.
